WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — No. 1 Purdue basketball defeated Michigan State 77-61 on Sunday at Mackey Arena, led by a career-high 38 points and 13 rebounds from junior center Zach Edey.

The 7-foot-4 star also tallied three assists, three steals and a block in the matchup while going 15-of-24 from the floor. In 32 minutes of play for the Boilermakers, Edey didn't turn the ball over despite several adjustments by the Spartan defense.

"He’s so unselfish," Purdue coach Matt Painter said of Edey after the game. "He plays the game, and maybe the best stat is the zero turnovers. You know, the ability to throw him the ball and his ability to make a good decision."

In two games against Michigan State this season, Edey has combined for 70 points and led Purdue to a pair of wins. The team earned a one-point victory at the Breslin Center just two weeks ago.

Senior guard David Jenkins Jr. notched 11 points and made three 3-pointers off the bench, including a huge shot right before halftime that sent the Boilermakers into the locker room with a 40-22 lead.

With the win, Purdue is now 21-1, including a 10-1 mark in the Big Ten. The team has won eight straight games after suffering its first loss of the season.
