Mark Kingston, his baseball team and all of Gamecock nation have likely been on pins and needles since their elimination from the SEC Baseball Tournament this past Thursday, as they were undeniably a bubble team heading into Sunday night. Despite that, they wound up being named one of the regional hosts for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night.

The next two questions following that revelation; who would the Gamecocks play and which regional would they be paired with? We found out the answer to both on those questions on Monday afternoon, as South Carolina will be hosting Central Connecticut State, NC State and Campbell.

Team Metrics (RPI | SOS | Wins over Quad 1 Opponents)

Central Connecticut State: 111th | 281st | 0 Wins

NC State: 23rd | 21st | 10 Wins

Campbell: 13th | 86th | 9 Wins

The Gamecocks were also named the No. 15 overall national seed, pairing them up with the No. 2 seed Florida Gators, who'll be hosting Florida A&M, and Texas Tech. South Carolina will begin their regional on Friday against the No. 4 seed Central Connecticut, and will play out the rest of their regional in a double elimination style format to see who will face the winner of the Gainesville regional.
