The 2023 season for South Carolina's Baseball team has gone from looking like the best season since 2016 to going completely off the rails for the Gamecocks. Mark Kingston and his squad have lost each of their last four conference series, including their regular season series finale this past weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers.

South Carolina had bought themselves a lot of leeway from national voters due to their series victories they accumulated throughout the first two-thirds of the season against teams like Clemson, Florida and North Carolina, but have slowly expended that cushion over the past four weeks due to their largely nonexistent play. Pollsters' collective opinions have begun to sour on the Gamecocks, as evidenced by where South Carolina feel in the major polls on Monday.

If fans are using these rankings to get an idea of where South Carolina currently stands in terms of their regional host hopes, it seems clear that the Gamecocks will have some work to do at the SEC Baseball Tournament in order to get fully back in the good graces of the selection committee who'll decide their postseason journey.
