Hayden Hurst Expected To Sign With Carolina Panthers

Per Ian Rapoport, former South Carolina Football great Hayden Hurst is expected to sign with the Carolina Panthers.

The 25th overall pick in the 2018 Draft will be joining his 4th NFL team, the Carolina Panthers, per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, after two-year stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons and spending last season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Having been a consistent and dependable receiving threat throughout his NFL career, the acquisition of Hayden Hurst is a solid pickup for the Panthers.

His dependability is what the Panthers need after they traded away their top wide receiver, DJ Moore, to the Chicago Bears last Friday in a move that positioned Carolina with the 1st overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. With the Panthers expected to draft a rookie quarterback that can develop into the team's franchise leader, a trusted long-term realization of talent that's hard to come by, they'll need to bolster the talent surrounding their young signal caller. The Panthers' offensive line is already stable, being rated by ProFootballNetwork as the 13th-best unit heading into the 2023 season, but as previously stated, Carolina must build up their receiving core.

With the trend of rookie quarterbacks passing to their "safety valve" targets, typically tight ends or running backs that run safe short-route reads on passing sets, Hayden Hurst is set to play a pivotal role in Charlotte, one that could link him to the development of a future Hall of Fame quarterback.
