On Tuesday night, it was reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports that Shane Beamer and South Carolina's football program were expected to hire veteran SEC assistant coach James Coley, formerly the tight ends coach at Texas A&M, to their staff. This report raised eyebrows due to the fact that James has never coached running backs, and that was the only on-field coaching position that was open for the Gamecocks, indicating that more moves could be coming in the near future.

It appears that those subsequent dominos are beginning to fall, as multiple outlets are reporting that South Carolina's tight ends coach, Jody Wright, is expected to become the next head coach at Murray State. Wright has served as the Gamecocks' tight ends coach each of the past two seasons, and with it seeming more likely that he's moving on, that would therefore open the door for Coley to slide right on into his current role.

The Gamecocks are still currently searching for a new running backs coach after they let go of Montario Hardesty one week ago.
