Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football staff have been desperate to find some help on the defensive line after a slew of portal deflections, graduations and in the case of one player, ongoing legal issues. This has been especially the case with the edge defender position, where the Gamecocks currently possess five scholarship players, with the most productive player in Jordan Strachan having started just 17 games in his six year career.

Due to these events, coach Beamer and his staff have attempted to find immediate help in the transfer portal, or quite frankly, anyone that would allot them more flexibility with their current personnel, something they saw in Maryland transfer Anthony "Tank" Booker. Booker drew interest from multiple Power Five programs in the SEC and Big Ten, including Ohio State, Arkansas, Purdue, Texas A&M, and South Carolina.

After visiting each of those aforementioned schools, Anthony Booker came down to his final decision on Wednesday evening, and decided to commit to the Arkansas Razorbacks. One could discern that Tank clearly wanted to play in the SEC where he would be able to go up against tougher competition, but it seems that the fit between Booker and Arkansas from either a coaching or schematic standpoint was just too good to pass up at the end of the day. Thus, Shane Beamer and Co. will have to continue to find other portal players who could contribute to the team this Fall.
