Mark Kingston and South Carolina's baseball program is just two and a half weeks from starting the 2023 campaign against the UMass-Lowell River Hawks.

There's optimism both within the program and within the fanbase that the team can turn the page on what was a disappointing showing last year. One player who could be a major catalyst for a potential turnaround is starting pitcher Will Sanders.

Sanders went 13-6 in his first two years in the program and has a high upside due to his physical intangibles and a deep arsenal of pitches he's accumulated.

Earlier this month, Sanders was named a preseason All-American by Perfect Game. On Monday, Sanders racked up two more major preseason honors, as he was named a second-team All-American selection by Baseball America and D1Baseball.com.

Sanders is a part of a starting rotation that could be one of the best in the SEC. It's also comprised of a noted workhorse in Noah Hall and one of either Jack Mahoney, Eli Jerzembeck, or Matthew Becker, all of whom have been battling for the final slot throughout the preseason.
