Stanford lands Wisconsin linebacker transfer Spencer Lytle

In this story:
Troy Taylor and his staff are continuing to work extremely hard to help Stanford football join the rest of the sport and the modern era, and their efforts in the transfer portal have far exceeded what many thought was possible.
On Monday, we learned that the Cardinal will be adding their sixth transfer of the offseason in Wisconsin linebacker Spencer Lytle. The former four-star out of St. John Bosco took to Twitter on Monday to announce that he will transfer to Stanford.
This is a special one! Beyond thankful to receive an offer from my dream school! With that being said, I am also committing to Stanford University to finish out my athletic career and education! #GoStanford pic.twitter.com/UV7b7Z1bsx

The Southern, California native was heavily recruited coming out of high school accumulating over 40 offers from programs such as Auburn, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas and Oregon among others. Despite the Stanford staff being newly assembled by Troy Taylor who I spoke with last week, Lytle does have some familiarity with the staff.
His primary recruiter to Wisconsin was Stanford's defensive coordinator Bobby April III who was the outside linebackers coach.
Lytle marks the second player to transfer to Stanford on the defensive side of the ball, joining FIU transfer Gaethan Bernadel. Lytle will have a chance to step into a much larger role than the one he had at Wisconsin, which saw him record just seven total tackles, one tackle for a loss, and a fumble recovery in three seasons. He also marks the second Power 5 transfer that Stanford has brought in within the past couple weeks, joining Syracuse quarterback Justin Lamson.
