Adrian Autry Gives "No Comment" on Benny Williams Not Playing vs Gonzaga

Syracuse basketball forward missed his third game of the season.

Syracuse forward Benny Williams did not play in Tuesday's loss to Gonzaga at the Maui Invitational. This one day after playing 16 minutes and scoring eight points on 3-4 shooting including 2-2 from beyond the arc in a loss to Tennessee. Following the loss to the Zags, head coach Adrian Autry was asked why Williams did not play.

"No comment on Benny," Autry said. "Just no comment."

Williams was previously suspended for undisclosed violation of team rules. That led to him missing the final exhibition game and first two regular season games. He returned for the Colgate game, however, playing 10 minutes off the bench.

"Benny, he just came back with us," head coach Adrian Autry said following the win over Colgate. "It's going to take some time to get his conditioning and rhythm back. The greatest thing that I've seen was that he up and cheering for his teammates. He was into it. He was ready to go if I called him. So again, we look forward to working him back in with this team. Getting him back into the rotation. I thought he was great today and he did what he could do from being away for a couple of days."

The performance against Tennessee, where he seemed energetic and was effective on both ends, seemed to be a positive step in the right direction. His absence against Gonzaga was curious, and the no comment remark was even more so.

The Orange will finish off its Maui Invitational slate by facing Chaminade on Wednesday, November 22nd at 9:30 p.m. Eastern.
