Syracuse basketball received some great offseason news on Wednesday. According to a report from Donna Ditota of Syracuse.com, forward Benny Williams will return to the Orange for the 2023-24 season.

Williams is a 6-8 forward who averaged 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 campaign. He shot 44.7% from the floor overall and 39.6% from beyond the arc, showcasing an improved jumper.

His productivity was, however, inconsistent throughout the year and that led to him losing his starting job at one point. Williams was able to regain that starting spot and starting to show signs of more consistency down the stretch of the season.

In three of the last four games of the season, Williams averaged 17.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 55.5% from the floor and 75% from beyond the arc. He will be expected to be a key player for the Orange next year, which will be the first of the Adrian Autry era.

Williams came to Syracuse during the 2021 recruiting class as a highly touted recruit. Coach Autry was his primary recruiter and the two developed a strong relationship during the recruiting process as well as Williams' two years at Syracuse to date.
