Syracuse point guard Judah Mintz has made his decision for next season and has elected to return to the Orange for the 2023-24 season, he announced on social media. Mintz had previously declared for the NBA Draft process while maintaining collegiate eligibility and participated in the NBA Draft Combine. After going through that process and receiving feedback about his draft stock/game, Mintz has chosen to go back to college.

"There's definitely a feeling of unfinished business," Mintz said in a statement to ESPN. Last year we shoed glimpses of what we can be as a unit and as a young team, but right now I feel like, and the program feels like, it's time for Syracuse to get back to where we belong. On top. Coach Autry is the person that was heavy in my recruiting and the coach that I've connected with since Day 1. Coach Boeheim's resume speaks for itself but Coach Red is the perfect man for the job, he knows the ins and outs of Syracuse and has new ideas and philosophy .I'm excited for this upcoming year to say the least."

Mintz averaged 16.3 points, 4.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game during his freshman campaign and lone season with the Orange. That put him on the ACC's All Freshmen Team after earning ACC Freshman of the Week five times during the season.

The return of Mintz is a huge boost for Syracuse's roster. Head coach Adrian Autry has been aggressive this offseason adding backcourt talent through the transfer portal. Two elite class of 2022 recruits, JJ Starling (Notre Dame) and Chance Westry (Auburn) both picked Syracuse as their transfer destinations. The Orange recruited both out of high school, and now gets them as transfers.

In addition, Kansas transfer Kyle Cuffe picked Syracuse. Cuffe was a class of 2021 prospect who signed with the Jayhawks over the Orange and several other high major programs.

That group, along with Mintz, gives Syracuse a deep and talented backcourt.
