In this story:

Syracuse faltered down the stretch and lost at Georgia Tech 65-60 Saturday night. With the loss, the Orange dropped to 16-10 (7-8) on the season. Next up for Syracuse is another road game, this time at NC State. That game is Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The loss was to the team that was last in the ACC standings just days after beating the team at the top.

The first half was one of ups and downs for both teams. Syracuse started strong by jumping out to a 9-2 lead. Georgia Tech bounced back to get things close before an 11-2 run put the Yellow Jackets up nine. The Orange would answer with a 7-2 spurt to close the half and trim the lead to four entering the locker room.

Syracuse started the second half strong scoring the first four points to tie things up, but Georgia Tech would answer with a 9-0 run to get momentum back. The Orange would chip away and regain the lead with under six minutes remaining on a Chris Bell corner three off of a dish from Quadir Copeland.

Georgia Tech would take the lead back with under two minutes to play. Syracuse would miss multiple free throws during the final few minutes. A Mintz floater then rolled off the rim with 55 seconds remaining. On the Yellow Jackets' next possession, Miles Kelly would hit a runner at the end of the shot clock plus draw a foul. His three throw would fall to push the lead to four with 31.5 seconds left.

After a pair of Mintz free throws, Syracuse trapped on the inbounds and appeared to draw a travel call. However, the travel was not called and a foul on the Orange was. Georgia Tech would miss the second free throw, but Syracuse could not grab the rebound. That would lead to another foul, two more free throws from the Yellow Jackets and essentially all she wrote for the Orange.

Syracuse shot just 37% from the floor overall and was a rough 6-25 (16%) from three point range on the night. Georgia Tech outrebounded Syracuse 49-28, which was partially offset by Syracuse forcing 17 Yellow Jacket turnovers.

Judah Mintz and JJ Starling combined to score 32 of Syracuse's 60 points. No other player was in double figures. Both Maliq Brown and Quadir Copeland fouled out.
