Syracuse Snaps Two Game Losing Streak With Win Over Louisville

The Orange makes plays down the stretch to top the Cardinals.

Syracuse basketball snapped a two game losing streak with a 94-92 win over Louisville Wednesday night. With the victory, the Orange improved to 15-8 (6-6) on the season. Next up is Clemson in the Dome on Saturday.

Chris Bell scored a career high 30 points (11-15 overall, 8-10 from three) to lead Syracuse, but his biggest play was on the defensive end. With Syracuse up by two in the final 30 seconds, Judah Mintz was driving to the basket in transition. He lost control of the ball and Louisville picked it up in what seemed to be an easy opportunity to tie the game. Bell hustled down court and blocked the potential game tying layup.

Moments later, however, Skyy Clark would hit an off balance three to tie the game at 92. Syracuse immediately inbounded the ball to Quadir Copeland, who raced up court ahead of the Louisville defense. His layup with 3.8 seconds left was blocked, but goaltending was called to give the Orange a two point lead. Clark would then miss a three at the buzzer to seal the Syracuse win.

Defense was absent for much of this game as Syracuse shot 60.8% from the floor and 45.5% from three point range while Louisville shot 53.8% overall and 44% from the outside. The Cardinals outrebounded the Orange 40-21.

Judah Mintz added 21 points for Syracuse along with four assists and two steals. JJ Starling added 19 while Maliq Brown had a tremendous all around game with 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five steals and six blocks. Quadir Copeland had 11 points, seven assists and three steals.
