The 19th ranked Syracuse women's basketball team controlled the action from start to finish in a 71-60 win at Miami. With the victory, the Orange improved to 21-4 (11-3) on the season and remain in second place in the ACC just 1/2 game behind Virginia Tech. Next up, Syracuse stays on the road to face Virginia on Sunday. That game tips at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on the ACC Network.

Syracuse jumped on Miami early, starting the game on a 7-2 run. The lead would stay between five and eight for most of the quarter, with the Orange holding a six point edge entering the second. Syracuse continued to take control of the game in that quarter, closing on a 9-2 run to take an 11 point lead into halftime.

In the previous two games, Miami trailed by an average of 12 points at intermission but would use strong third quarters to rally and pull off a come from behind win. Syracuse made sure that did not happen this time around, starting the quarter on a 9-3 spurt. The Orange would lead by 17 entering the fourth quarter.

That is when Miami made its move. Using a full court press, the Hurricanes turned over Syracuse and got back in the game. The lead was trimmed to as little as five with just under three minutes remaining. Georgia Woolley and Dyaisha Fair would hit back to back threes to all but seal the victory. The Orange would cruise in the final minute.

Syracuse picked up a double digit road win over a good team despite Fair having an off shooting night, showing the depth of this squad. Fair 11 points on just 4-14 shooting. Woolley would lead the Orange with 24 points on 10-19 shooting. She would add five assists and three steals. Alyssa Latham scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench.

The Orange won the rebounding battle 38-33 and held Miami to just 29% shooting from three point range.
