Dominant Second Quarter Paces Syracuse's Blowout of Seton Hall to Advance to WNIT Super-16

In this story:
Syracuse women's basketball used a dominant second quarter to pick up a 72-54 road win at Seton Hall and advance to the Super-16 of the WNIT. The Orange will next face Columbia on Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a chance to inch closer to the WNIT's Final Four.
A 20-2 run that spanned the end of the first quarter and the start of the second turned a tie game into a blowout. After a Sha'lynn Hagans triple tied the game at seven, Dyaisha Fair and Georgia Woolley would take over to give the Orange full control. During that 20-2 spurt, Fair and Wolley would combine for 14 of those points as the Pirates had no answer for Syracuse's dynamic duo.
Syracuse's defense was also up to the task, holding Seton Hall to just 15 first half points as the Orange took a 20 point lead into halftime. The Pirates would try to get back into it in the third, clawing to within 11 heading into the final frame. Syracuse would respond with a quick 9-0 to open the quarter and put the game away for good. Seton Hall would not get closer than 16 the rest of the way.
Fair would score 24 points in total while Woolley added 19 to go along with five assists. Dariauna Lewis was superb inside with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Teisha Hyman provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, five assists, five rebounds and five steals.
The Orange defense forced 19 turnovers in total and held Seton Hall to 38% shooting including just 2-19 from beyond the arc.

Title: Publisher All Syracuse Education: Roberts Wesleyan College Location: Syracuse, New York Expertise: Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting. EXPERIENCE Mike McAllister has been covering Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting for more than a decade. Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans. After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years. Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance. All Syracuse was started from scratch by Mike and the Fan Nation team. It has now become a staple for Orange fans of various sports. Mike has broken news on recruiting, Syracuse basketball and football team information and has established himself as the top recruiting inside in the market. He has appeared on local radio shows, television broadcasts, national radio shows and much more.
