Syracuse Women's Basketball Ranked 22nd in Latest AP Poll

The Orange picked up some impressive wins, which led to the ranking.

Syracuse women's basketball has finally moved into the AP Poll. The latest poll was released on Monday, with the Orange coming in at 22nd. Syracuse knocked off then 15th ranked Florida State and won at Pittsburgh this past week to improve to 16-2 (6-1) on the season.

The 6-1 start in ACC play has the Orange tied for first place with North Carolina. The Tar Heels have the tiebreaker, however, having beaten SU earlier this season. The strong start is impressive, but the schedule gets much more difficult over the next three games.

Syracuse plays at 15th ranked Notre Dame on Thursday. The Orange knocked off the Irish on December 31st 86-81 inside the JMA Wireless Dome. After that, Syracuse returns to the Dome to face 19th ranked Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Hokies were in the Final Four last year and returns its best player Elizabeth Kitley.

As if those games were not enough, Syracuse goes back on the road on February 1st to face 18th ranked Louisville.

Those will be opportunities for Syracuse to make an even stronger statement as one of the best teams in the conference. If it wants to win the regular season crown, the Orange will likely have to win at least two of the next three to stay on pace.
