LeQuint Allen Delivers Speech to Team Ahead of Matchup With Pittsburgh

Syracuse football is looking to snap a five game losing streak.

Five weeks of hardships can cause any player to get lost in the obstacles and forget about the bigger picture. To think it was only three months ago that the football team was using the preseason ranking of being ranked tenth in the ACC as bulletin board motivational material.

Now the team sits below tenth place in the ACC and at the bottom of the conference. A tough pill to swallow for players that know they are capable of a lot more, but time is not over. With three games reimagined in the schedule, there is still possibility to be eligible for back-to-back bowls for the first time in a decade with two more wins and an opportunity to finish over .500 with winning out.

The way to reach that according to Dan Villari says it starts with finding that spark of passion not just on game day but at practice each day leading up to it. Who can bring that spark? None other than LeQuint Allen who gave a powerful speech post practice this Tuesday.

“I felt like it was important for the speech in the moment, everybody was just going through the motions and just felt like I needed to be the guy to step up and be vocal to take nothing for granted,” said Allen. “My message was we are still in this; we can still get a bowl game.”

Allen says he believes that the message was received straight to the heart from every person on the team and is excited to see what it can lead to.

If there is a moment to not take for granted it would be this week playing at the one and only, Yankee Stadium. An environment that the team has experience playing in during last year's Pinstripe bowl game, but now it is time for them to rewrite the script with a spark of passion that each player knows is within them.
