Losses Turned Into Lessons

Syracuse football is hoping to bounce back this week against Florida State.

How often do people turn on the television to watch football and forget they are watching human beings and not just athletes?

I would guess that it happens quite frequently, especially when the athletes hit adversity and their level of performance doesn’t match what the fans feel they should be at.

If you ask the players, many say as though they are put on this pedistol and seen as inhumane where if you play football, you must have it all.

“We are normal people too, we go through things,” said Alijah Clark “Cinco”. “People don’t look to us to share how we feel and that’s why we have each other.”

How do a group of grown men who play such a physical sport that requires nothing but toughness, peel back the layers and actually show their true colors off the field? The answer is music.

The music does not only come from Cinco, who is most popularly known for singing and producing his own must. It comes from other teammates as well such as Terry Lockett, Carlos Del-Rio Wilson and others.

“We bond through therapy because in our music we talk about stuff that is going on with us that we couldn’t say in person” said Cinco. “We trust each other through that.”

For Syracuse football these last two weeks have been less than desirable with two tough losses. The fans know that and so do the players.

While the players agree that they equally wanted to win both games just as much as everyone else wanted them to, they are determind to keep their circle small with only people who maintain the belief in them and bet on themselves.

“We are heading to Florida State to win,” said Cinco. “Give them the best game we’ve got”.

This weekend leaves the door wipe open for Syracuse to have the perfect opportunity on how to turn their recent losses into lessons and compete against one of the top teams in the country.
