Syracuse only threw eight passes but ran all over Pittsburgh at Yankee Stadium on Saturday 28-13 to snap a five game losing streak. With the win, the Orange improved to 5-5 (1-5) on the season. Next up is a prime time game at Georgia Tech on Saturday, November 18th.

Garrett Shrader returned as Syracuse's starting quarterback, but was clearly hampered as the Orange shied away from throwing the ball most of the day. In fact, Syracuse only threw the ball eight times, but was dominant on the ground racking 382 rushing yards.

Tight end Dan Villari took a lot of direct snaps and ran over 150 yards with a touchdown, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. Syracuse's physicality up front was too much for the Panthers, who never matched the Orange on that front. LeQuint Allen also eclipsed the century mark on the ground while Shrader hit 92 and a score.

The game started strong for Syracuse, running the ball on seven straight plays before a play action pass from Shrader to Max Mang put the Orange on the board for an early 7-0 lead. Pitt would respond with 13 straight points to take a six point lead into halftime.

The Syracuse defense shut Pitt out in the second half, and allowed the Orange rushing attack to take control of the game in the third quarter. A Shrader 21-yard touchdown run midway through the third gave Syracuse the lead back, one it would not relinquish.

A Jayden Bellamy pick six at the end of the third quarter all but put the game away as the Panthers could not figure out the Syracuse defense. A fourth quarter Dan Villari touchdown run was the icing on the cake.

The Orange held Pitt to just 269 yards of total offense and forced four Panther turnovers.
