Syracuse Men's Soccer Ranked #1 in United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll

The Orange remain in the top spot after winning the National Championship last season.

Syracuse men's soccer will begin the 2023 season where it ended the 2022 campaign. As the nation's top team. The United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll was released on Wednesday, and the Orange was ranked number one. Syracuse won the program's first National Championship last season in thrilling fashion, topping Indiana in penalty kicks.

Two other ACC schools made the top in Duke (4) and Pittsburgh (5). The team Syracuse beat to win the National Championship last season, Indiana, is ranked second. Kentucky is ranked third to round out the top five.

Syracuse's 2023 schedule features five teams ranked in the preseason poll's top 20.

The Orange won a program best 19 games last season, on its way to a 19-2-4 record. Syracuse won the regular season ACC title, the ACC Conference Tournament and the National Championship. In doing so, it became just the fourth ACC squad to accomplish that feat in the same season.

That led to five Syracuse players being selected in the 2023 MLS Draft and the NCAA College Cup's Most Outstanding Player, Nathan Opoku, signing a professional contract with Leicester City FC.

The 2023 season begins for Syracuse on August 24th against Providence at SU Soccer Stadium. The season opener kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
