Texas A&M Men’s Basketball: From Bubble Team to Guaranteed?

Aggies prove they belong in top 25 with pair of big wins heading into showdown with No. 2 Alabama, SEC Tourney

Barring some kind of major collapse or changes in the ranks, the Texas A&M men’s basketball team is heading to the Big Dance come mid-March.

That’s thanks in a large part to a pair of big wins -- at home over Tennessee and on the road at Ole Miss -- since the Aggies joined the top 25, climbing from No. 25 last week to No. 24 this week.

Many recent bracketology projections have Texas A&M as an 8-seed heading into the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The fate of where the Aggies land in the tourney is completely in their own hands, as Texas A&M hosts No. 2 Alabama on Saturday prior to the SEC Tournament tipping off next week.

A few weeks ago, we asked the question: do the Aggies belong in the top 25?

Since that time, they’ve joined the ranks and even climbed one spot.

A big win on Saturday over the Crimson Tide would not only be the Aggies biggest win of the season to date, but it would also likely propel the Aggies into the top 20 heading into the conference tournament.

Where the team goes from there depends on how the Aggies play in the SEC Tourney.

Will the Texas A&M team that played Tennessee show up, or will it be the Aggies who dropped a road contest to Mississippi State?

Streaks heading into both the conference tournaments and the Big Dance are huge when it comes to pulling off upsets in March Madness.

The Aggies will be dancing come mid-March, but how far they go is yet to be seen.
