NCAA March Madness: Aggies vs. Nittany Lions - Preview, How to Watch, Betting Odds
The No. 17 Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to the hardwood in a first round showdown against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Thursday, March 16 as the Aggies aim to keep on marching in a NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Midwest region filled with intriguing potential matchups.
Thursday's tilt between the 7-seed Aggies and 10-seed Nittany Lions is slated to tip off at 8:55 p.m. Central Time at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa and will be televised on TBS.
Texas A&M (25-9, 15-3 SEC) is 4-1 over the last five games, winning four in a row -- at Ole Miss and at home against Alabama to end the regular season before starting the Southeastern Conference Tournament with wins over Arkansas on March 10 and Vanderbilt on March 11 -- before dropping the SEC title game to Alabama, 82-63, on March 12.
Penn State (22-13, 10-10 Big Ten), meanwhile, is also 4-1 over the last five games, winning at home over Maryland to conclude the regular season before starting the Big Ten Conference Tournament with a sterling 3-0 record, garnering wins over Illinois, Northwestern and Indiana before falling to Purdue in a title game nail-biter, 67-65, on March 12.
The Aggies are currently led in scoring (16.5 points per game) and assists (4.0 per game) by guard Wade Taylor IV and in rebounding (5.7 per game) by forward Henry Coleman III.
Penn State guard Jalen Pickett leads the Nittany Lions in all three major categories, including scoring (17.9 points per game), rebounding (7.3 per game) and assists (6.7 per game).
