Aggies Beat Arkansas 67-61 In SEC Quarterfinals: Live Game Log

The Aggies take on the Razorbacks in Nashville in the quarterfinals of the SEC men's basketball tournament.

The No. 18 Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to the hardwood in an SEC Tournament quarterfinals matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks as the Aggies aim to improve their seeding on Selection Sunday.

Texas A&M is 4-1 over its last five games, winning at Missouri and at home against Tennessee, and dropping a seven-point road contest at Mississippi State. The Aggies then had back-to-back wins to close out the regular season at Ole Miss and at home against Alabama.

Arkansas, meanwhile, is 2-3 over its last five games, winning at Georgia before losing three in a row at Alabama, at Tennessee, and at home against Kentucky, and earning a 76-73 victory over Auburn on March 9 to open the SEC Tournament.

The Aggies are currently led in scoring (16.3 points per game) and assists (4.1 per game) by guard Wade Taylor IV and in rebounding (5.7 per game) by guard Dexter Dennis.

Razorbacks guard Ricky Council IV leads Arkansas in scoring (16.3 points per game), forward Makhi Mitchell leads in rebounding (5.5 per game), and guard Anthony Black leads in assists (4.2 per game).

15:37 FIRST HALF: Razorbacks 6, Aggies 6

The Aggies win the tip and move the ball down the floor with the first possession of the game. Tyrece Radford hits a midrange jumper for the first points of the game. 

That's answered by Arkansas' Nick Smith Jr. who drained a pair of 3-pointers in response. Radford made a layup then Dexter Dennis throws down a dunk to tie the game at 6-6.

9:42 FIRST HALF: Razorbacks 18, Aggies 12

The Razorbacks' Makhi Mitchell laid in a dunk off a nice assist from Anthony Black for an Arkansas lead. Nick Smith extended the lead with one-of-two free throws before Radford answered with a jumper.

Smith scored on a jumper at the other end, then the Hogs' Anthony Black laid in a score off an assist from Ricky Council IV. Andre Gordon got into the scoring column for the Aggies with a layup.

Mitchell scored on another dunk and Davonte Davis nailed a 3-pointer. Andersson Garcia scored for the Aggies at the other end to narrow the Razorbacks' lead.

7:57 FIRST HALF: Razorbacks 20, Aggies 12

Makhi Mitchell made a layup for the Hogs as both teams go cold.

3:13 FIRST HALF: Razorbacks 29, Aggies 21

Nick Smith Jr hit a jumper for the Razorbacks to extend the Arkansas lead to 10, but Henry Coleman III answered at the other end of the court.

Anthony Black hit two Arkansas foul shots after a Solomon Washington hack, then Dexter Dennis drained a 3-pointer to narrow the lead. The Aggies called a timeout with 5:31 left in the half, down 24-17. A&M is shooting 36.4 percent from the field compared to Arkansas' 60 percent, but the Aggies are dominating the boards 15-6.

Black hit a 3-pointer out of the Aggies' timeout and Mitchell hit two free throws. Then Solomon Washington made a layup to get the Aggies back to within 10 before Wade Taylor IV hit a jumper before the TV timeout.

HALFTIME: Razorbacks 38, Aggies 25

Tyrece Radford made two free throws answered by a Nick Smith Jr. jumper. Jordan Walsh then hit two foul shots and Mitchell made a layup for the Razorbacks. Henry Coleman III made a layup for the Aggies but Walsh hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to extend the Hogs' lead.

A&M shot 36.7 percent from the field compared to 54.2 for the Razorbacks. The Aggies are also just 20 percent from beyond the arc while Arkansas is shooting 41.7 in the first half.

15:44 SECOND HALF: Razorbacks 42, Aggies 35

Henry Coleman III made two foul shots to start the second-half scoring, but Makhi Mitchell answered with a dunk at the other end. Coleman hit two more free throws and Wade Taylor IV made a jumper. 

Mitchell slammed home a dunk that was answered by a Coleman layup. 

11:46 SECOND HALF: Razorbacks 44, Aggies 42

Coleman hit a free throw for the Aggies, then Nick Smith Jr. made a jumper for the Razorbacks. Dexter Dennis hit a jumper to get the Aggies to within six. 

Coleman hit another jumper off a nice dish from Tyrece Radford, and Wade Taylor IV added a layup for the Aggies to bring them to within two. The Aggies opened the second half on a 17-6 run before an Arkansas timeout.

7:56 SECOND HALF: Razorbacks 51, Aggies 50

Ricky Council IV hit one-of-two free throws, answered by Tyrece Radford hitting two for the Aggies. Dennis Dexter and Wade Taylor IV both hit layups, answered by Anthony Black for the Razorbacks as the Aggies took the lead 48-47. 

Taylor IV hit two free throws to extend the Aggies' lead, but Makhi Mitchell stopped the bleeding with a tip-in. Davonte Davis hit a layup to regain the lead for the Razorbacks before the TV timeout.

3:48 SECOND HALF: Aggies 58, Razorbacks 53

Julius Marble hit a jumper and a free throw, then Dexter Dennis hit a jumper to extend the Aggies' lead. Jordan Walsh hit a jumper for the Razorbacks.

FINAL: Aggies 67, Razorbacks 61

Tyrece Radford hit a foul shot for the Aggies, Wade Taylor IV hit two free throws, and Ricky Council IV and Taylor traded jumpers. Solomon Washington slammed home a dunk to extend the Aggies' lead to 65-57 with 48 ticks left.

Council IV made two free throws and Makhi Mitchell made an uncontested dunk to narrow the lead to 65-61 A&M when the Aggies called a timeout.

Wade Taylor IV was fouled and made two free throws before the buzzer. Aggies win!
