Texas A&M to Host Longhorns in 2024 - SEC Schedule Rumors

The Texas Longhorns got the last laugh over the Texas A&M Aggies in 2011 during what appeared to be the final-ever meeting between the arch rivals, but the Ags now appear set to get the first chance at revenge in College Station.

Texas A&M Aggies football will reportedly get the first crack at hosting the Texas Longhorns for the long-awaited renewal of the Lone Star Showdown in 2024.

Per reports Tuesday night from Horns247, the Aggies will host soon-to-be SEC foe Texas in College Station when the Longhorns officially make the conference switch next year. The reported schedule leak comes shortly before the SEC's official 2024 schedule release on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT.

"During this time of change, our fans will continue to enjoy traditional rivalries and begin to see new matchups presented by the addition of two historically successful football programs to the SEC," conference commissioner Greg Sankey said.

Texas got the last laugh over the Aggies in 2011 during what appeared to be the final-ever meeting between the arch-rivals. On a game-winning field goal by kicker Justin Tucker, the Longhorns stunned the crowd at College Station with a 27-25 walk-off win.

But now, the Aggies appear set to have a chance at revenge on the same field where the rivalry ended over a decade ago, though it's Texas that leads the all-time series, 76-37-5.

These two teams and the rest of the conference now await the full schedule release on Wednesday.
