Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 16: TCU Back in the Coaches Poll

After going 2-0 last week, the Horned Frogs are now ranked No. 25 in the Coaches Poll. Eight teams from the Big 12 are ranked or receiving votes this week.

The TCU Horned Frogs (18-7, 7-5) are once again ranked in  Coaches Polls this week. They are ranked No. 25 and are also receiving votes in the AP Top 25. This comes after getting two conference wins last week, at home against West Virginia and on the road at Kansas State.

TCU moved back in the rankings in Week 16 after defeating West Virginia and Kansas State last week. 

The Frogs debuted in the polls for the first time this season at Nos. 19/22 in Week 11 after wins over Oklahoma and Houston. They dropped out in Week 12 after losses to Cincinnati and Iowa State. They were back in both polls in Week 13 after wins at Oklahoma State and Baylor. Then they dropped out in Week 14 after beating Texas Tech but losing at home to Texas. 

UConn (24-2) remains in the top spot in both polls this week. Houston (22-3) flipped spots with Purdue to take over the No. 2 spot. After Purdue (23-3), Arizona (20-5) and Tennessee (19-6) comprise the rest of the top five in both polls this week. 

Iowa State moved up four spots in both polls to be No. 6, setting up an epic game on Monday night when the Cyclones travel to Houston to take on the Cougars. 

The Big 12 now has three teams ranked in the Top 11 - Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, and Baylor. In addition, four other teams are ranked or are receiving votes. The Big 12 also has the lowest NET ranking at 46.1. The nearest competition is the Big Ten at 60.6.

  • Kansas - No. 9 in the AP Top 25 and No. 10 in the Coaches Poll

  • BYU - No. 25 in the AP Top 25 and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll
  • TCU - Receiving votes in the AP Top 25 (30) and No. 25 in the Coaches Poll
