As the season begins to close, every game matters for seeding in a tightly contested Big 12 tournament. Baylor needs a win to have a chance to finish as the two seed, and Houston needs a win to remain in first place in the standings.

These two teams are opposites regarding how they win their matchups. Baylor will outscore you quickly, while Houston will make you fight for every basket you get against them. Baylor averages 82 points per game, while the Cougars only give up 55 points per game to their opponents.

Ja'Kobe Walters will lead the Bears. The guard is averaging 14.4 points a game and 4.5 rebounds to go with it. He will lead the charge for an offense that is shooting 46% from the field in their last ten games.

Conversely, the Cougars have a guard who will lead the scoring for the team in L.J. Cryer. While Cryer has been streaky at times, he has been the backbone of the offense, averaging 15 points a game.

Keys to Victory

Baylor

Limit the turnovers. Houston forces over nine steals a game, and that number will not slow down soon. If the Bears can play clean basketball, they can walk away with a win.

Houston

Keep rebounding. Over their last ten games, the Cougars are averaging 38 rebounds a game, which is six more than Baylor is averaging. As long as they win the battle for the boards, Houston should walk away with the win.

Other Notable Games

  • #13 Alabama at #17 Kentucky
  • Texas at #9 Kansas
  • Texas A&M at #5 Tennessee
  • Villanova at #1 UConn
