Men and Women’s Cross Country Finish High in John McKenzie Invitational

TCU Cross Country Kicked Off Its Season in Fort Worth This Weekend with Multiple Athletes Placing High

This past weekend, Men and Women’s Cross Country kicked off their season in exciting fashion with both teams finishing 2nd overall with some standout performances.

On the women’s side, two athletes making their TCU debut finished top-ten, Tabitha Kalunde Ngao with a 1st place finish clocking in at 17:07.9 to win her first collegiate cross-country event, and London Culbreath finishing 6th place overall clocking in at 17:52.4.

Just outside the top ten were Olivia Andrews with a time of 18:20.5 placing 11th, Mariana Martinez with a time of 18:23.7 placing 12th, and Maria Coral with a time of 18:28.0 to finish 14th. The women’s team finished with a total of 44 points by the end of the event.

The men’s cross-country team had two top-ten finishers in Graydon Morris who finished with a time of 15:08.7 placing 7th overall, and freshman CJ Meyer, who finished just behind Graydon with a time of 15:09.8. Noah Winters rounded out the top-ten by finishing with a time of 15:15.60 placing 10th for the Horned Frogs.

Outside of the top ten finishers, Stone Burke placed 24th with a time of 15:42.10 followed by Grant Martinez placing 25th with a time of 15:43.60. With all 5 finishing in the top 25, the men’s cross-country team was able to place 2nd with a total of 68 points.

The cross-country teams will continue their season next weekend at the UTA Gerald Richey Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 a.m. in Arlington, Texas.
