The Horned Frogs were held scoreless for the second consecutive game following their 1-0 loss to No. 8 Penn State on Sunday.

Despite an opening night victory over SMU, the Frogs have continued to face challenging non-conference opponents in No. 6 Florida State and No. 8 Penn State. While Eric Bell and his team looked to bounce back on Sunday, Penn State had other plans for the visitors.

It was an open and even first half for both sides. With neither side afraid to attack, it was a back-and-forth first 45 minutes. At the break, TCU led Penn State five to three in shots.

Heading into the second half, Penn State imposed its dominance on the Frogs, out-shooting TCU nine to three. It wasn’t until the 77th minute that Penn State finally broke through the impenetrable TCU backline. Kaitlyn MacBean got on the end of a cross from Julia Raich and headed home the only goal of the match. Aiming the header downward, the ball inched past a diving Lauren Kellett and through the traffic of Petie Nassetta, who was defending on the goalline.

While Penn State held TCU scoreless, the Frogs forced goalkeeper Katherine Asman to make five saves.

The Frogs have dropped to 1-2-0 after back-to-back losses. It marks the first time since the 2015 season that the Frogs have lost at least two of their first three matches to begin the season. With that in mind, they have faced two of the premier programs in the nation in No. 6 Florida State and No. 8 Penn State.

TCU will look to bounce back against the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Thursday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium at 7 p.m. The match will broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
