In this story:

One man, the Vols, will have to tag and keep an eye on is LSU outfielder Dylan Crews. His presence at the plate almost always leads to something special for the Tigers, and Tennessee will always have to be wary of him.

Crews is currently a junior from Longwood, Florida. In his third season in Baton Rouge, his game (in particular at the plate) took a significant jump. He currently bats a remarkable .433 with an on-base percentage of .570. Simply put, he has been getting on base in over half of his plate appearances. He also boasts a nice slugging percentage of .732. Crews lead LSU in multiple statistical categories, including OPS (1.308), runs (89), hits (97), and walks (61). The jump from the 2022 season has left him a more refined and patient player at the plate that can deal a lot of damage. He also is a speed threat on the base paths with six steals. This also has come on six steal attempts leaving him with stealing 100% of the bases he has attempted to go for. The Tennessee pitching staff will have to keep an eye on Crews when he is running the base path.

During the super regional round against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Tigers' outfielder batted .500 (3-6) throughout two games and had two runs during game one, a 14-0 victory. He also had an RBI in that game. During game two, Crews brought in 3 RBI on a 1-2 day. The patience at the plate he developed this season came into play again as he had four walks during the LSU win that clinched their spot in Omaha. Crews make a case for LSU's top batter and best believe Tennessee manager Tony Vitello will have an asterisk next to his name on the lineup card Saturday.
