Hendon Hooker Dons Detroit Threads For The First Time

In this story:
The Detroit Lions will be a team to monitor this upcoming NFL season. The team has taken all the right steps under head coach Dan Campbell, securing a winning record during the 2022 season. The future is bright in the Motor City, but it's also quite complicated.
Team brass selected Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker with the No. 68 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. The move carries a lot of implications for Detroit's future; current Detroit starting quarterback Jared Goff is under contract for two more seasons, meaning they can't automatically part with him after the season ends. While they have to make big decisions after 2023, they are quite content with their choice and are building excitement around Hooker. He recently donned a Lions uniform for the first time.

Ari Meirov of the 33rd team reported that Hooker would start his NFL career wearing No. 12. Meirov clarified that this could change, but for the time being, Hooker will be sporting a new jersey number. He wore No. 2 at Virginia Tech before transferring to Tennessee, making this his third jersey number change in as many destinations.
Campbell recently joined retired NFL defensive end Chris Long on his "Green Light Podcast" and discussed what Hooker's future with the team looks like. He confirmed that the organization views 2023 as a "redshirt year" for Hooker, an opportunity for him to grow and learn while continuing rehab from his ACL injury.
