On Friday, 247Sports' national college football reporter Matt Zenitz reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars have targeted Tennessee running backs coach Jerry Mack for the same position. Jacksonville is coming off a 9-8 season and is looking to revamp their offensive staff with quarterback Trevor Lawerence still on his rookie contract.

An additional report from Football Scoop's John Brice clarified the situation. Brice said things are trending "positively" for Mack and the Jaguars and that a deal could be finalized as soon as today. Mack played an instrumental role in the Vols' offense in 2023 and signed Salem High School running back Peyton Lewis, one of the top backs in his class.

Mack was instrumental in developing running back Jaylen Wright. He was Tennessee's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2015 and declared early for the NFL Draft. Wright projects as a day-two prospect, and fellow running back Jabari Small also joins him in the draft process. Mack did a lot of good for the University of Tennessee at the running back position, and if he chooses to leave for the NFL, they would still be feeling his impact after he left.
