Josh Heupel Provides Update on Suspended Players
In February, news broke about three players being suspended for their involvement in a drug-related incident at Stokely Hall.
"We are aware of an incident that occurred at Stokely Hall involving football student-athletes," a Tennessee spokesperson said at the time. "The individuals involved in the incident have been suspended indefinitely from football activities pending further review of the matter by the university."
Shortly after Tennessee started spring ball, Josh Heupel revealed Kaidon Salter was involved in the incident.
"Kaidon was not on the practice field today," Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said during his first press conference in the spring. "Kaidon is part of the group of individuals that are suspended from team activities at this point. There's high expectations to represent Tennessee football. We'll continue to support those kids and will later share more information."
The group of individuals included Kaidon Salter, Aaron Willis, Isaac Washington, and Martavius French.
Salter's legal issues have been dropped at this time; however, he is still waiting on University for compliance for more answers. There has been no known changes in status at this time regarding any of the other players involved During today's press conference, Heupel provided an update on the situation.
"Any of the guys that have had those issues here, no final word on any of that, yet," Heupel said. "We are going to stay with those kids like I told you in the beginning-- support those kids through the process. Once we have a final decision on all of those guys, we will communicate that.
For sure," Heupel said on the hope of having a final decision before spring ends. "We hope that process will be thorough, and we will be able to work through it and communicate where our University stands."
