Grant Williams Finds Rhythm In NBA Playoffs, Helps Boston To Victory

Former Tennessee Volunteers forward Grant Williams delivered a strong performance for the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs.

Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams has seen his role reduced significantly in this year's NBA playoffs. After playing around 25 minutes a game during the regular season, Williams has seen his minutes reduced by around 40% to just 15 minutes a game in the playoffs. On Tuesday, with their backs against the wall, the Celtics turned to Williams in a big role off the bench, and he came through.

In 29 minutes, Williams had 14 points and six rebounds while hitting four out of six threes to help Boston get their first win of this year's Eastern Conference Finals. Down 3-0, Boston had looked lifeless and had struggled to make shots in these last two games. In a do-or-die game, Celtics head coach Joe Mazulla played Williams 29 minutes, matching his highest total in a playoff game this season. Overall, Williams' minutes have really fluctuated throughout the playoffs. He was basically unplayable at the end of the second round against Philadelphia and didn't play at all in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It's certainly possible we will see more of the former Vol in Boston for game five with the way he has shot the ball over the last two games.
