Grant Williams Trolls Jayson Tatum After Vols Beat Duke

Former Tennessee Volunteers forward Grant Williams trolled NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum after the Vols beat Tatum's college, Duke. The two are teammates on the Boston Celtics.

Social media went into a fray on Saturday after the Vols took down Duke in the round of 32. The Blue Devils were favorites entering play, but Tennessee continues to impress with strong defense and shooting. They are on to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019.

The two sides share history, especially with their alumni. They have produced copious NBA players over the past few years, meaning two were bound to play together. Jayson Tatum and Grant Williams have spent years together on the Boston Celtics, the reigning Eastern Conference Champions.

Tatum went to Duke for one year, becoming the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft after a strong NCAA Tournament showing. He's one of the top players in the world, logging four All-Star appearances and two All-NBA selections.

Meanwhile, Williams is a pivotal leader for Boston. This is his fourth season with the team; he's appeared in 277 regular season contests and averages 6.1 points per game in his career. He was a three-year starter at Tennessee from 2016-2019.

He made the all-conference team twice and was a consensus first-team All-American in his final season on Rocky Top. In 2018, Williams averaged 18.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game.

The two have become close in their time together, but that doesn't save either from some good-natured ribbing. Williams took a video of Tatum in the locker room, ensuring the Duke alum knew what happened on Saturday.
