Coveted 2026 OL Bear McWhorter Announces Trip To Knoxville

In this story:
Cass High School and the University of Tennessee are 166 miles apart. Get on I-75 and prepare for two and a half hours of country roads and the Georgia air. The Tennessee coaching staff will get quite familiar with that drive in the coming years, as two cousins in the 2026 recruiting class are drawing early attention from Tennessee and many other major programs.
Their names are Brodie and Bear McWhorter. We've talked about Brodie McWhorter, the quarterback, before. The Tennessee Volunteers have hosted him on visits before and think that he will become a national quarterback recruit in the coming years. His cousin, offensive tackle Bear McWhorter, is already a national name. Bear holds 15 offers, highlighted by Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State, Penn State, and others. McWhorter has been to Knoxville on unofficial visits twice before, most recently at the beginning of April. He will return on Wednesday for a third time during his freshman season, putting Tennessee firmly in his top schools.
McWhorter stands 6-4 and 295 pounds as a rising sophomore. He started ten games for Cass as a freshman, all at left tackle. This is someone who has dealt with a great deal of responsibility from a young age. McWhorter plays through his hands, allowing him to engage his base and finish through blocks. It's still quite early to project what he is at the next level, but at this point, you'd be hard-pressed to find another tackle in his class that has the combination of movement skills, early size, and pedigree.
