Ethan Utley Talks Top Schools Ahead of Commitment
Tennessee is the home state of many top recruiting targets. The Vols have already landed Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre and Baylor School wide receiver Joakim Dodson in the 2025 class. They aren't close to being done, and another priority in-state name is scheduled to come off the board by the end of March.
Ensworth High School defensive lineman Ethan Utley resides in Nashville, Tennessee. He measures 6-4 and 265 pounds, checking in as the No. 160 prospect in the country, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He recently set a March 28 decision date and will commit to one of five schools: Michigan, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Texas. Following his announcement, the talented in-state prospect spoke to Volunteer Country to explain why each school made his list.
- Texas: "The unity and up they are on while heading into the SEC."
- Oklahoma: "Oklahoma is in the same boat as Texas with the move to the SEC, and the defensive-minded coaching staff and fan base makes them a strong contender."
- Syracuse: "The winning culture the team acquired with Coach Brown and Coach E is outstanding, and they are going to turn the program around."
- Michigan: "The culture and development at Michigan are top-notch, and Coach Moore is one of the best coaches in the country."
- Tennessee: "The comfort level being probably the best and the consistent recruiting every day is what stands out for them, and then an opportunity to be Coach Garner's cover kid for the line of scrimmage is a great opportunity."
He later confirmed that he also had no plans to visit any of these schools before announcing his decision on the 28th. Utley grew up around corners Tyler Redmond and Dylan Lewis, who are Volunteer commits in the 2025 class.
