Joakim Dodson Commits To Tennessee
Collierville High School wide receiver Joakim Dodson has officially committed to the Tennessee Volunteers following multiple visits from the staff and visiting Tennessee on their junior day event. Dodson stands 6-1 and 181 pounds. He committed to the Volunteers over the Missouri Tigers, making him only the second commit from the state of Tennessee so far. Following his commitment, Dodson spoke with Volunteer Country to let us know why Tennessee was his school of choice.
“My relationships and trust in the staff was amazing, so it was a no-brainer, and every time I go up there, it just feels like home to me.” Following his opening statement, he was asked what separated Tennessee from the rest of the field. Dodson goes on to state, “My amazing relationship with this staff; they saw my progression from my 9th grade year to now and have believed in me for a long time, even before I was the player that I am today, so that’s why it was an easy choice.”
The talented in-state prospect was asked if there was a specific coach he connected well with. “Coach Kelsey Pope, for sure! My dad taught me how to play receiver, and when I meet with Coach Pope, it’s like the same thing, and I love that. And he’s also just a great coach but even better person, and we talk more about off-the-field stuff than we do football, so that’s my guy.”
Joakim Dodson was asked what he believes he can bring talent-wise to Tennessee, and he stated, “One of the best receivers in the country, very dynamic, can go inside and outside, can win vs. press/man coverage, and just a big-time playmaker.” The talented Tennessee wide-out commit was asked which commit he is most excited to play ball with in the future. “George definitely, but I’m excited to play with all the commitments; we’re building something very special at Rocky Top!”
He also made a very intriguing statement when asked about targets. “I don’t have any targets, but all my in-state guys I’m going to go for! Come be a part of something that’s about to be very special!”
Tennessee has many uncommitted and talented prospects this year, including Cameron Sparks, Ethan Utley, Jaylan Morgan, Daune Morris, CJ Jimcoily, Kris Thompson, and so many more. Finally, he was asked where he stands in his commitment to Tennessee. He confirms, “It’s not shutdown, but I’m committed to Tennessee!”
