Jesse Perry Announces College Commitment

2024 three-star offensive tackle Jesse Perry has made his college decision. The Tennessee Volunteers were the odds-on leader entering the day.

The Tennessee Volunteers already added a commitment on Friday, 2025 four-star corner Shamar Arnoux. Arnoux kicked off the 2025 class for the Vols, but they only had a little time to celebrate before another target announced their decision.

In-state offensive tackle Jesse Perry announced his decision one hour after Arnoux and also pledged his services to the Vols. He's the seventh commit in the 2024 class for Tennessee, joining newly minted quarterback commit Jake Merklinger.

Perry is the first of several offensive tackles the Vols hope to add. He isn't the most college-ready prospect, but he oozes eventual ability. Perry's high school offense is quite literally predicated on whether he can seal the edge and take two defenders, making him more refined than your average "three-star."

Prospect: Jesse Perry

Projected Position: Offensive Tackle

Vitals: 6-7 and 275 pounds

School: Middle Tennessee Christian School (Murfreesboro, Tennessee)

Frame: Excellent height and length, more than enough to play competitive football in the SEC. However, he needs to add about 50 pounds of good weight before consistently seeing the field for the Vols. He has one high school season left, meaning a lot of that weight will be put on in a college weight room.

Athleticism: Very sound mover for a man of his size. Stays light on his feet; offensive linemen typically lumber around the field and look clumsy; Perry actually looks brisk on his feet. He must retain that grace and balance when adding weight, but the early athletic profile is promising.

Instincts: Middle Tennessee Christian hasn't given him many pass sets, but when run blocking, he has elite short-area awareness. They run a niche offense designed to run through Perry; if he doesn't somehow get to the second level and close things off, it's not good.

Polish: Tennessee is adding quality depth for the first few seasons, with starter potential well down the road. Perry is quite unrefined at this point and is going to need a big jump once he arrives on a college campus.

Bottom Line: The Vols coaching staff added a three-star with massive size, strong athleticism, and someone who has their high school offense revolve around them at right tackle. Perry may not light the world on fire when he reaches the campus, but he has the tools to compete.
