Jordan Ross Cuts Down Recruitment

Five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross cut his list down to eight schools on Wednesday, and the Tennessee Volunteers are positioned well.

Jordan Ross is a five-star edge rusher from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He is in the class of 2024. 247Sports ranks him as the 12th overall player nationally in the class. He had 21 total offers, but on Wednesday, he cut his list to eight via Twitter.

The list comprises Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas, USC, and Oregon.Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Auburn were SEC teams that offered him but did not make the list. He stands 6 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighs 215 pounds. Ross will visit Tennessee in June.

Ross plays best as a standout outside linebacker in a 3-4, according to Cooper Petagna of 247Sports. He also plays basketball. Ross has great size, and in the tape, his speed doesn’t fall far behind. He can chase down plays outside of his area in jaw-dropping fashion. He does not give up on plays and finishes them with authority.

Quarterbacks struggle to run away from Ross, which is a great treat in today’s era of college football, with athleticism growing more and more common. A dominant pass rush helps your entire defense, and Ross has all the tools to be a star in that area. He has NFL potential, and even with the big offensive lines of the SEC, Ross can surely hang with them.
