KJ Lacey Reschedules Tennessee Visit

Quarterback KJ Lacey initially scheduled a visit with the Tennessee Volunteers, but complications have forced the two sides to reschedule.

The Vols continue to be active in the 2025 quarterback market. It's one of the biggest recruiting subplots around the program; they took quarterback Jake Merklinger in the 2024 class to add quality depth behind presumed 2024 starter Nico Iamaleava, but they are looking to take a big swing in 2025.

Quarterback KJ Lacey continues to be discussed in these conversations. The coaching staff hasn't settled on one guy, though George MacIntyre has an early case as their No. 1 target. Lacey posted tremendous stats during his sophomore season at Saraland High School, teaming up with 2024 Alabama wide receiver commit Ryan Williams en route to winning a state championship.

There's a list of early suitors for Lacey. Tennessee has interest, but the Crimson Tide may be the early team to beat. Sources confirm to Volunteer Country that Lacey has spent the spring trying to schedule unofficial visits with several programs, and we reported last week that he had a visit with Tennessee set for the weekend of April 8.

Those close to the situation updated us, explaining that Lacey doesn't want to travel on Easter weekend and prefers to be with his family during that time. The two sides will work to find a date that works for both parties; Lacey is intrigued by head coach Josh Heupel, offensive coordinator Joey Halzle, and how their offense operates.

Getting face time with each 2025 quarterback will be critical in Tennessee's evaluation process. Heupel spent the first few weeks after the Orange Bowl traveling to various basketball games and high schools to build those relationships.
