Leo Delaney Talks Tennessee Offer
Tennessee has been focusing a lot on underclassmen as of late when it comes to the recruiting trail. They have offered plenty of young athletes along the way. One of the most recent athletes is Leo Delaney. Delaney is a 6’6, 270-pound offensive and defensive tackle from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Leo recently received an offer from Tennessee on Tuesday. Following his offer, the young high school athlete took the time to speak with Volunteer Country.
When the young prospect was asked about his offer to Tennessee, he responded, “It was a really cool thing for me because I started the recruiting process by getting offers to UNC and NC State; getting an offer from Tennessee was a big deal.” The sophomore from North Carolina didn’t exactly find out he was offered by the Volunteers the way most people would expect. “I was doing a little bit of homework, and he (a coach at Providence Day School) texted me the running back coach’s contact information, and he just told me congratulations on your offer from Tennessee,” stated Delaney.
The sophomore expressed his excitement to receive the offer by stating, “It was a boost of adrenaline, a boost of happiness, a really cool experience. I always kind of liked Tennessee. I watched that massive game against Alabama last year; that was one of the greatest college football games, and they make great offensive linemen. Tennessee has been producing NFL talent on the offensive line for the past couple of years, including current Bears 1st-round pick Darnell Wright and current Chiefs guard Trey Smith. The production of the offensive line has definitely caught the eye of Delaney.
The North Carolina lineman was very open when explaining the big factors in his recruitment. “Definitely a big thing that will decide where I go is relationships and which school feels the most like home and the family environment,” states the sophomore. Delaney has not yet had the chance to visit Tennessee to get a feel for their environment, but he is hopeful for that to change soon. “I definitely will take a visit. I plan on making it to the Georgia game, and if not that game, I will be on a visit later on in the year,” the lineman confirms.
Leo Delaney is a name that Tennessee fans should definitely keep an eye on moving forward throughout the recruiting process for years to come. He currently ranks in the top 30 in the recruiting ranks and has plenty of time to build relationships with the university and coaching staff.
