In this story:

Early national signing day is upon us, and the Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to finish strong. They've recruited at a high rate under head coach Josh Heupel and brought in some major difference-makers in their 2023 signing class. Volunteer Country will provide readers with an in-depth breakdown of each signee.

Defensive back Marcus Goree Jr. is the fifteenth commit to turn in their national letter of intent. He is the No. 517 player in the cycle, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Take a look at what the Vols are getting.

Prospect: Marcus Goree Jr.

Projected Position: Corner

Vitals: 6-0.5 and 170 lbs.

School: Bradley Central (Cleveland, Tennessee)

Frame: Goree's size limited him during the recruitment process. While he now holds several major offers, he needed a big junior season to stand out to big-time programs. However, his length and physicality should allow him to remain competitive at the SEC level.

Athleticism: Reports indicate that Goree can run a 4.4-second forty-yard dash. That time shows on tape; Goree shrinks field quickly and has strong hip dexterity, enabling him to turn on a dime.

Instincts: He is one of the best processors in the class, which reflects how many positions he can play. Goree knows how to play football at a high level from various spots; he can tackle and cover at a high level.

Polish: There needs to be some physical refinement once he enters a college weight room, but his game is quite polished. Goree will compete hard once he steps on a college campus and should push for snaps once he adds muscle.

Bottom Line: While he isn't a top-450 prospect on any recruiting service, Goree is a difference-maker. That should be reflected by the top programs that came calling after his junior season - the Alabama Crimson Tide even offered him in the spring. Goree is an excellent add in a class that needed another strong corner.
