The Next Three Tennessee Offensive Targets

In this story:
Wide receiver JJ Harrell suddenly committed to Tennessee on Monday. The Volunteers quietly pursued one of the most explosive players in the country, and their efforts proved worthwhile.
The Volunteers have gotten off to a quick start in the 2024 recruiting class. Defensive back Marcus Goree and Harrell have committed to Tennessee within the past week, joining previous commits Jonathan Echols, Carson Gentle, and Kaleb Beasley.
However, some of their top offensive targets are still on the board. Tennessee is seeking a high-level offensive class, and they have their eyes set on three key targets in the class.
Mike Matthews, ATH
Mike Matthews stole the show at the Under Armour All-American camp. He brought in multiple highlight-reel catches over top defensive backs and confirmed significant interest in Tennessee.
While he could play defensive back in college, Matthews seems to want to play wide receiver. He has elite-level ball skills and the athleticism to go with it, making wideout a much more natural fit.
Matthews carries significant interest in USC and Tennessee. The home-state Georgia Bulldogs, have been a primary concern throughout his recruitment, but as Matthews begins to set a timeline, it seems like Tennessee is in a good position.
Ryan Wingo, WR
Tennessee is the No. 1 contender for wide receiver Ryan Wingo. The St. Louis native stands 6-2 and 200 lbs. and recently added offers from Alabama and Georgia; with many blue-blood programs getting in on him now, Tennessee's early interest has separated them.
Wingo brings a lot of interesting traits. He is supremely gifted after the catch; he's one of the most physical players after the catch in his class. Wingo has proven he can separate downfield, but he shines with the ball in his hands.
This spring projects to be pivotal for Wingo's recruitment. Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Missouri have also made waves in his recruitment, and Wingo has indicated spring visits will play a big role for him.
Jerrick Gibson, RB
The consensus top back in America. Evaluators have been waiting for running back Jerrick Gibson for years; his enticing three-down ability and explosive traits would make him an early contributor in college.
This is another recruitment where Tennessee has done well. Gibson recently scheduled four official visits, and Tennessee will receive one on June 16. He will also visit for spring practice.
Alabama, Georgia, and Texas will receive the other three. Recruits are allotted five officials, and Gibson is on record saying he plans to schedule another, though he hasn't revealed which program is in the lead to get it.
