Three-Star Tennessee Native Ronan O'Connell Sets Commitment Date

2024 three-star offensive guard Ronan O'Connell has been high on the Tennessee Volunteers for months and has now scheduled a commitment date.

The Vols did their work on the recruiting trail in June; they will see how it pays off in July. Several priority announcements are pending in the next few days, most of which are in the trenches. Tennessee has gone hard after the offensive line this cycle, and one long-time target kicks off the fun on Tuesday.

Three-star offensive guard Ronan O'Connell is ready to release some big news on America's birthday. On Monday, O'Connell announced that he would commit on July 4 at 2:00 PM EST. The Franklin, Tennessee, native trimmed his list at the end of May: Tennessee, Clemson, and Wisconsin. He's visited all three programs in the past few weeks, with his most recent stop coming on June 23 in Knoxville.

O'Connell stands 6-4.5 and 290 pounds. As a junior, he showed great ability to be a bully in the trenches. In the run game, he attacks defensive linemen with authority, whether it be the man directly in front of him or the guy on the other side he is pulling towards. He moves really well both vertically and horizontally. Much of his experience comes as a tackle, but he is projected as an interior offensive lineman at the next level. The Vols were the primary suitors for months, but the Clemson Tigers have made big moves in this recruitment during the calendar year. Tennessee also has several other priority offensive line targets, so it will be interesting to see who O'Connell chooses on Tuesday.
