Longhorns Shutout Cal Poly 7-0 to Complete Sweep: Live Game Log
It has been a successful second weekend series for the Texas Longhorns (5-1) as they have managed to handle business smoothly in their first two games against the Cal Poly Mustangs (2-4).
Saturday's contest saw the Longhorns start Charlie Hurley on the mound, looking to bounce back from a shaky first outing to open his season. And bounce back he did. Hurley gave the Longhorns six innings of shutout baseball and was followed by the bullpen tossing three of their own for back-to-back shutout wins.
At the plate Texas drove in six runs on eight hits in the 6-0 win, including a pair of two-run shots off the bats of Jared Thomas and Max Belyeu -- with both representing their first of the season.
Now, the Longhorns look for the series sweep.
