No. 23 Texas Loses 5-3, Drops Series to Washington: Live Game Log

The Longhorns look to bounce back from a rough series opening loss against the Huskies.

The No. 23 Texas Longhorns (10-7, 2-1) are back in action once again on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Washington Huskies (5-7-1) in game two of their three-game weekend series.

Things were looking great for the Longhorns in Friday's series opener as they got a phenomenal outing from staff ace Lebarron Johnson Jr. Making the start against the Huskies, Johnson gave Texas six innings of one-run baseball with a sparkling season-high 10 strikeouts.

He exited in line for the win with a 3-1 lead, with all three of those runs coming in the fourth after Kimble Schuessler gave Texas the lead with a two-run single. That, paired with a Jack O'Dowd RBI had the Longhorns looking to finish strong and get the win.

Then, the seventh inning happened and the bullpen proceeded to completely collapsed. A myriad of walks, hits and an error on defense allowed the Huskies to plate six unanswered runs. They proceeded to tack on two more in the ninth to secure the 9-3 win.

Now, though, they look to shake off the disappointing loss and even the series against Washington.

Stay tuned as we provide live updates as the Longhorns take on the Huskies from Disch-Falk Field on Saturday afternoon.

Live updates will be available after first pitch.
