It isn't how you start but how you finish. That motto almost always rings true, but it was especially relevant for the Texas Longhorns whose season started off on an extremely rough note.

They opened 0-3 in the College Baseball Showdown and then dropped to 4-7 after an early season series loss on the road against the Cal State Fullerton. Then they reeled off 16 straight wins to surge to the top of the Big 12 and enter the top 25.

The top 25 is where they would stay until a sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners, which both knocked them out of the rankings but saw them fall from first in the conference.

Instead of letting that series define the end of their season, though, the Longhorns roared to life down the final stretch, closing the regular season with a dominant sweep of the West Virginia Mountaineers - a sweep that sees them jump back into the D1Baseball top 25.

Cracking the top 25 once again at No. 20, the Longhorns are ahead of the Mountaineers who come in at No. 21 and behind the Oklahoma State Cowboys at No. 18 overall.

While a strong end to the regular season is never a bad thing, there is still plenty of unfinished business left for the Longhorns. Starting with the Big 12 Tournament, they hope to make another deep postseason run and earn their 39th trip to the College World Series.
