'Sugar Bowl Rematch?': Texas Longhorns Projected To Take On Georgia Bulldogs In CFP

The Texas Longhorns are viewed as one of the best teams in college football this season.

The college football season is somehow winding down after we were forced to wait through what felt like the longest offseason ever.

With just two weeks of regular season football left, teams like the No. 7 Texas Longhorns are doing their best to ensure that they don't have any slip-ups along the way. For Texas, they are in the midst of its best season since 2009, which was when Colt McCoy was slinging the rock in the burnt orange and simply need to win their last two games and the Big 12 title and they'll likely make the College Football Playoff.

Something that CBS Sports' Jerry Palm projected to happen in his latest edition of college football bowl predictions.

Palm has Texas projected as the No. 4 team slated to take on the projected No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. The other two teams he included are Michigan at No. 2 and Florida State at No. 3.

The Longhorns and the Bulldogs actually faced off in the Sugar Bowl in 2018, as led by Sam Ehlinger, Texas was able to beat the Bulldogs convincingly. They also happened to be the game that Ehlinger himself declared the Longhorns to be back, which was far from the truth for that regime as they ended up going 8-5 the following year in what was a major letdown.

If Texas were to make the College Football Playoff this season, it would not only be a major success for the program that has been trying to be "back" for over a decade, but this season may be their best chance at winning a title. However, they'll need to get through Iowa State this weekend before they worry about the playoff.
