Texas football: Injury report: DeMarvion Overshown out and Will Collin Johnson play?

Did Texas football spend the summer practicing over a Native American graveyard?
The Longhorns' bad luck continued this past week as Tom Herman announced several new additions to the injury report during a brief meeting with the media on Thursday.
Texas defensive back DeMarvion Overshown will miss at least one game with a back injury - a stress reaction to a vertebrae in his back to be exact.
Add in a hamstring injury to B.J. Foster and suddenly arguably the deepest position group on the team is starting to wear a little thin.
It does mean we can expect to see more of Chris Brown, who has been excellent in the time he's been allotted on the field so far this year, but probably means we won't see much of the Cowboy package this week (we wouldn't have anyway against Rice most likely).
The other injury on Herman's report doesn't seem as serious, but could be much more concerning.
Collin Johnson told reporters on Monday that he had tweaked his hamstring against LSU. Herman confirmed he is a game time decision for the Longhorns against Rice with a hamstring issue.
Playing Rice, expect Texas to use as much caution as possible in this situation. If there's even a slight chance of worsening the injury Johnson will likely be on the sideline in what shouldn't be all that close of a game.
Hamstrings and ankles are both injuries with blurry timelines when it comes to healing. A small tweak can sometimes cost a player multiple weeks if not cared for properly.
There is some good news out of all of this. Daniel Young has been cleared to play after sitting out the first two games of the year with a high ankle sprain.
Young was expected to have a bigger role in the offense this season after rushing for 143 yards a year ago. He's still listed as third on the depth chart, but Herman said he will be ready to roll should the situation warrant it.
Just having a third body back there will likely impact the Texas play calling. I expect to see more runs with the tailbacks this week, especially in the second half to help shorten the game. You would ideally like to keep Sam Ehlinger under 10 carries in a game like this if you can, especially after he had 19 rushing attempts last week against a physical LSU defense.
Ehlinger is as tough as they come, but this is a rough sport and a long season.
