AUSTIN, Texas -- That didn't take long.

Texas Longhorns freshman quarterback Arch Manning came out of the gates with aggression on his first drive of Saturday's Orange-White Spring Game in Austin.

Suiting up for Orange alongside quarterback Maalik Murphy, Manning's first unofficial pass as a Longhorn came on his first snap of the scrimmage, going for eight yards to receiver Thatcher Milton. He threw a nice ball across his body to the left side of the field at the opposite sideline to Milton, who secured the catch near the ground.

Coach Steve Sarkisian stayed aggressive on the play-calling with Manning in, calling two more pass plays after the first-down completion. On second down, Manning launched a deep ball down the right sideline to receiver Johntay Cook II, a connection that Texas fans will be excited to see for seasons to come. But despite a good-looking pass from Manning, Wake Forest transfer Gavin Holmes made a solid play on the ball to break up the pass.

Manning then rolled out on third down, but was faced with pressure before being forced to throw it away. Despite going three-and-out, it was a pleasant surprise to see Manning get three straight chances to sling the rock on his first drive of the day.

White leads Orange 7-3 in the second quarter.
